Welcome to the Stuttering Treatment and Research Trust - START

START is a registered Charitable Trust established in 1995.  We aim to:

• Increase awareness about stuttering
• Provide accurate assessment and advice for children, young people and adults who stutter
• Provide effective, best practice treatment for stuttering
• Provide education and information for professionals and members of the public
  

We are also actively involved in research.  It is our mission to be a Centre of Excellence in all the services we provide.

INTERNATIONAL STUTTERING AWARENESS DAY 2011             Ryan, Alex, Mitchell, William and Ben met START ambassador and former All Black, Royce Willis for an ice cream,                                                                                               a chat and a kick around.                                      Royce shared his feelings about growing up with a stutter and said how fortunate the boys were to meet other kids who stutter too.  He hoped they would be able to meet again.  He also encouraged them to follow their dreams and not let having a stutter get in the way of doing the things they love!                                Check out this website for the North Shore Times article about the day.           http://www.stuff.co.nz/auckland/local-news/north-shore-times/5868124/Bonding-with-a-former-All-Black
