Welcome to START.
The little not for profit achieving big things. Stuttering Treatment and Research Trust (START) is the only organisation in New Zealand that specialises in treating people who stutter. With many therapy options available, we’ve got the advice and support that you need.
Find the stuttering treatment that works for you.
Our qualified team of specialist speech language therapists are all members of the New Zealand Speech Therapy Association (NZSTA), providing internationally accepted and effective therapy for clients.
We know that sometimes it can be hard to get access to the right treatment that you need. That’s why we’re proud to offer appointments in Parnell and Albany, or even via video for those out of Auckland.
Groups and courses
Our specially developed courses combine intensive therapy with an opportunity to meet others who stutter, in a relaxed and supportive environment. We have group sessions for kids, teens and adults.
Would you prefer to work with someone that has faced the same struggles? START is proud to offer a one-of-a-kind mentor programme for you to work with mentors from a variety of professional backgrounds.
Stuttering can happen to anyone
For people who stutter, meeting people who have lead successful lives with a stutter is incredibly important and inspirational. Our ambassadors come from a variety of backgrounds but all offer similar experiences growing up with a stutter.
